The Lightning Thief
Endnote: This genre became to be a challenge itself, but I created a book trailer for The Lightning Thief using clips from the TV show Supernatural. For background information, Supernatural bases its plot on supernatural occurrences, and while it does not use Greek mythology, it's backbone to its plot is heavily leaning against supernatural lore. It is one of the reasons why I had chosen the show to portray The Lightning Thief because of how much both stories rely on its mythology. Much like my other genres, giving readers an opportunity to see the book instead of being told what it's about helps them judge whether or not they could like a book like The Lightning Thief. Not only this, but if a reader were to pick up the novel and read it, it could help them imagine who the characters are--perhaps let them compare my own interpretation on what the characters look like versus what they imagine them to look like. Instead of hearing someone talk about a book, why not show its potential in becoming a novel they would perhaps want to pick up themselves? Riordan wants to allow the readers to relate to the protagonists of the story, and it gets the readers interested in Greek mythology at the same time by incorporating Greek mythology throughout the stories.
